The Tides Of Fitness

Fitness comes in waves.

Times of restrictive dieting, challenging workouts, & being in top shape.

Less restrictive eating, punch the clock workouts, & in good shape.

Also times of doing basically nothing.

This is all part of the process.

The goal is to play in each but live in the middle.

Fitness isn’t an all in or nothing thing.

You should go through periods of really focus on your health and fitness. Diving deep on your nutrition. Dialing in on calories, portion sizes, macros, and types of foods. Taking your Tupperware meal prep to family parties and refusing to even smell the pizza. You hit the gym 5 days a week and won’t leave until you finish your workout plan, plus some extra sets. Having a concentrated focus on your health and fitness.

You should also have times of relaxing. Sitting on the couch clicking yes when Netflix asks “Are you still watching”. Eating what you want with no Fs given. Not deciding between two Ben & Jerry’s but instead having both.

You should also have times of punch the clock workouts. Going to bed at a decent hour, drinking enough water, getting in veggies, consuming protein, and being aware of your portions. You might have a cookie now and then or a glass of whiskey. But for the most part your workouts and nutrition is 80% pretty good.

This is where you should be most of the time of the year. Eating well but also making room for the food you enjoy on occasion. Getting to the gym most of the time or using the time you have to get in something. Your main focus is just showing up and enjoying the process.

Fitness comes in waves. You will play in high tide and low tide but the goal is just to keep swimming.
